MM2H Visa Tiers & Requirements

An overview of the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme’s current tier structure. The MM2H programme is run by Malaysia’s Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture — always check the official MM2H site directly before applying, since visa programme requirements are updated from time to time.

Four tiers

The current MM2H programme has four categories: Silver, Gold, Platinum, and a Special Economic Zone / Special Financial Zone (SEZ/SFZ) category for those zones specifically. Applicants must generally be aged 25 or above for Silver/Gold/Platinum, or 21 or above for SEZ/SFZ.

Fixed deposit and property requirements (indicative)

Each tier requires a fixed deposit placed with a Malaysian bank, plus a minimum property purchase value if the applicant chooses to buy rather than rent:

  • Silver — fixed deposit around USD 150,000; minimum property value around RM600,000; visa term around 5 years
  • Gold — fixed deposit around USD 500,000; minimum property value around RM1,000,000
  • Platinum — fixed deposit around USD 1,000,000; minimum property value around RM2,000,000; visa term up to 20 years

These figures are widely and consistently reported as the current structure, but visa programme figures can change. Treat the numbers above as indicative and confirm the exact, current figures directly on the official MM2H guidelines page before relying on them.

Other standing conditions

Participants are generally required to purchase and personally own their residence after approval (selling within 10 years is restricted, except to upgrade to a higher-value property), and to complete a medical check-up at a panel clinic/hospital appointed by the Ministry. Stay requirements vary by age and tier.
